Loomis, CA, December 7, 2020 – Teledyne LeCroy, the industry leader for validation and analytical solutions, is pleased to announce the release of SVF Pro/Enduro v4.6 software with support for testing Zoned Namespace (ZNS) and NVM Express (NVMe) v1.4 solid-state storage devices. The SVF Pro/Enduro v4.6 software for OakGate test tools enables SSD suppliers to verify performance and compliance for their state-of-the-art NVMe storage devices.
NVMe v1.4 SSDs, utilizing ZNS technology, provides several capabilities not available from traditional NVMe SSDs, including reduced write amplification, media over-provisioning, and internal controller DRAM usage. These capabilities improve throughput and latency while reducing the need for over-provisioning of NAND media, resulting in higher performance levels and a better return on investment. Teledyne LeCroy’s implementation of ZNS with I/O Exerciser in SVF Pro/Enduro software allows a much deeper and more effective method of validating the ZNS feature set than what is available on the market today.

OakGate has been shipping its E-Series U.2 enclosures for the U.2/SFF-8639 form factor SSDs, supporting all popular protocols (such as NVMe, SAS, and SATA), for over a year. The world leader for SSD test and validation platforms delivers a patent-pending memory fencing technology to detect errors that occur when an SSD accesses memory locations outside the area specified by the device driver
OakGate Technology, the industry leader for advanced, high-performance test solutions for flash storage, announces the release of its patent-pending memory fencing technology.
By incorporating memory fencing technology to its already feature-rich storage test platform, OakGate is once again pushing the boundaries to provide a critical error detection tool for its customers. Prior to this breakthrough, users could not set memory address ranges (memory fences or barriers) for the purpose of error detection or security in either test or production environments.
“The OakGate team has a rich heritage of pioneering key storage I/O technologies that later became the de-facto industry standards. We are continuing this tradition with our innovative memory fencing technology,” stated Bob Weisickle, co-founder and CTO of OakGate Technology. “With this patent-pending technology, we are now able to offer customers a valuable tool to detect errors caused by illegal memory access,” added Mr. Weisickle.
The memory fencing capability is enabled by our patent-pending method of mapping physical memory locations through the I/O memory management unit (IOMMU) to a set of virtual addresses for specific devices on the PCIe backplane. Currently in a test system used to test direct memory access (DMA) devices, the available address range is limited to a numerical range associated with the size of the physical memory. This limitation does not allow the test system to validate memory access beyond that limited range. OakGate’s DMA mapping technology enables the test system to fence, detect, and authenticate memory access throughout the full DMA address range.
OakGate’s memory fencing technology has been incorporated in the company’s fourth generation SVF software suite, Enduro/SVF Pro v4.2. By selecting this option within Enduro (the user interface), the user can check all memory accessed by the device under test (DUT) to the range which has been specified for that device. If the DUT attempts a memory access outside the specified range, the OakGate software flags the operation as an error. The OakGate software detects and categorizes these errors, and provides the address and operations of the DUT that is violating the memory access.

The world leader for SSD test and validation platforms launches DE200, a completely redesigned expandable desktop appliance powered by OakGate’s advanced fourth generation storage test software
OakGate Technology, the industry leader in advanced, high-performance test solutions for flash storage, announced the release of its DE200 Expandable Desktop Appliance. Designed from the ground up, the DE200 expandable desktop appliance provides significant airflow improvements and mechanical and thermal design enhancements. It also features an adjustable fan speed knob for quieter operation.
The PCIe Gen3 slots are conveniently accessed through a separate top door so that the PCIe add-in cards (AICs) can be swapped easily and quickly. The fan speed knob and indicator on the front panel empowers the user to optimize the fan speed (and noise) based on the number of AICs and their usage. Additionally, the rugged, reinforced design of this 4U appliance provides a solid and secure test foundation that can be utilized on a desktop or installed in a standard data center rack.
The DE200 provides maximum expansion possibilities in a desktop form factor. It includes four backplane PCIe Gen3 slots for testing AICs or connecting to a variety of external enclosures. Designed to work with OakGate’s fourth generation software suite, the Deep Analyzer enables customers to record substantially more data than currently available solutions
OakGate Technology, the industry leader in advanced, high-performance test solutions for flash storage, announced the release of the Deep Analyzer for SVF Pro, an innovative new product that dramatically increases the amount of data captured for workload analysis and error investigation. The Deep Analyzer is configured as an Add-in Card (AIC) that plugs into an existing PCIe slot of an OakGate’s 3U Rackmount (OGT-R300) or Expandable Desktop (OGT-DE100) appliance. It works seamlessly with SVF Pro, OakGate’s fourth generation software suite and is fully supported by Enduro, OakGate’s recently launched controller application. The Deep Analyzer’s large capacity of solid state memory allows customers to store several hours or days of data, depending on the test configuration. This is significantly orders of magnitude higher than existing analyzers that rely on system memory and can only capture a few seconds of data.

Mr. Gupta started his career at Intel where he developed processor designs.

As SSDs become commonplace in data-centers and storage arrays, there is a growing demand for predictable latency. Traditional SSDs incorporate a high-level of abstraction at the cost of unpredictable performance and suboptimal resource utilization. Open-Channel SSDs expose the internal parallelism of the SSD to the host and allow the host to manage it. OakGate provides a comprehensive Software Development Kit (SDK) that allows customers to write their own automated test scripts for UMF. Since the hardware layer is abstracted, the SDK is very portable. IO Throttling Enables Users to Measure Realistic Performance with the Creation of Application Specific Workloads and IO Rates
Loomis, Calif., Oct. 10, 2011 — OakGate Technology, the leader in test and validation platforms for storage and servers, announced the addition of IO Throttling capabilities to its test and validation platforms. Available immediately on all OakGate products, this feature provides the ability to measure performance that users are likely to experience in real environments.

With the IO Throttling capability, users can create application specific workloads by capping the IO at user defined values. Latency is then measured for a given IO Rate value or set of values. For every specified workload IO, the system generates statistics and histograms, and also creates performance graphs for IO Rate versus Latency and IO Rate versus Queue Depth. In addition, threshold can be set for maximum latency, and specific IO can be captured and analyzed.
